Level 2 Studios is a small web and mobile development firm in Holland, MI that focuses on providing useful and practical websites and android based phone apps. Level 2 Studios was founded in 2009 by Jared Sartin and Josh Compaan. In 2011 Derek Slenk joined the team.

I am Derek and I code. I first started coding when I got a TI-83 Plus for advanced math in 2000 (7th grade for me) and haven’t stopped since.
I have been happily married since June of 2010, and live with my wife and our 2 cats. In my spare time I love playing video games and hacking anything I can.

I am both a designer and developer. I began programming my first game in QBasic then finally moving into the web, where I focussed on the design aspects as well as development.
Much like the others in our team, I love video games and hacking up various things. From my Android to Lifehacker type hacks, I love to find alternate and creative uses for stuff.

I suppose you could say I’ve been a user since I was ten. A web user that is… I blame my brother. A twelve step detox program is about the only thing that could get it out of my blood.
I have a pain-in-the-neck cat name Sephiroth. I enjoy spicy food and require condiments on virtually everything I eat. My hobbies consist of playing video games competitively, golfing, and music.
